Bitter foods are some of my favorites, since I grew up by eating a Thai bitter melon soup on a weekly basis!
In this recipe, I will teach you how to cook the bitter melon in Thai -style, with Thai condiments and a delicious fried sauce that you can easily adapt as desired.
It is a very healthy dish that you can serve or create for almost every occasion. During a warm summer day, a fresh winter evening, or simply as a quick snack in the middle since it is ready in less than 20 minutes.
I suggest serving it as a side dish with one of my other steps from Thai break or a fresh salad such as Som Tum Thai (Green Papaia salad). In this way, you can balance bitterness with other flavors.

This bitter melon with egg and prawn recipe is fast and easy, ready in less than 20 minutes and perfect as a contour or Thailaitic dinner dinner.
- 2 spoons oil
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
- 1 egg
- 4 shrimp Devein and optionally peel
- 150 G bitter melon sliced in thin shames in the shape of a crescent (see photos of the ingredients)
- 1.5 TBSP oyster sauce
- 1 TBSP light soy sauce
- 1.5 teaspoon white sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon white pepper
- 3 spoons waterfall

Heat the oil in a wok or a large pan over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic and brown until it is fragrant and golden.

Break the egg in the wok, let it cook undisturbed for a few seconds and then gently climb the egg until it is simply set.

Add the prawns to the wok and fry until the shrimp becomes pink and is cooked.
