This recipe is inspired by my Methi from and I am doing it more often these days. Since you can add a good amount of Microgreens in this, it makes a substantial recipe for the family to obtain their daily nutrients.

About Microgreens from

Microgreens dal is made with mustard oil, garlic, tomatoes, toor from, microgreens, chilli dust. Dalla gets a unique flavor from microgreens and garlic. Instead of using Microgreens you can use Greek hay or other green leaves.

I used mustard oil for this recipe to provide the flavor, you can opt for oil or normal gi. Make sure to heat the mustard oil until smoking, turn off the heat and let it cool a bit before proceeding. The heating of mustard oil removes the raw smell from the oil. I use a generous amount of garlic in this recipe.

You can add onions and other spices if you prefer. Microgreens tends to add a slight bitter note to Dal, then balance it with small jaggery and lemon juice. Enjoy this comforting perfume with rice or drips. I like it alone seasoned with a little crunchy fried bread.
