The sausage with roasted cabbage and squash puree is pure food comfort

Yes. It’s one thing. I don’t get around. The sausage with roasted cabbage and squash butternut puree is a food comfort food.

I thought I knew the comfort food. And, without a doubt, I thought I loved vegetables and I was well rounded. You have never surprised me to complain about mixing my dishes with an assortment of vegetables and starches, proteins and vitamins.

To tell the truth, I thought I had my bases covered with love for all savory things. Because, I also loved the dark vegetables to which my friends and families raised their noses.

And then I tasted the roasted cabbage.

How to prepare a perfect roast cabbage

My mind has been blown. I had had a cabbage in soup, grated, fried, cooked. But roasted. Roasted can be the definitive way of eating all vegetables. Do you have a friend who doesn’t like cabbage? Throw an extra-irrelevant head and throw them out because you are about to savor perhaps the best way to eat cabbage.

The roasting of the cabbage, just like the sprouts and the pumpkin, allows the vegetables to cook slowly, also softening the internal leaves wrapped. The exterior caramelizes and creates a delicate creaking that brings flavors that you have never known the same thing used for Kraut could have.

It is not bitter or hard. It’s just a little honey with a rich punch. It is perfection and will see many outlines for my season of comfort food. (And then when that season is over, I will be grilling).

Whole30 explained

If you are not familiar with “Whole30”, then a rapid explanation is in order. Whole30 is a dietary plan in which for thirty consecutive days it eats only full foods and avoids as many foods as possible.

Whole30 might look a little similar to a paleo diet. For example, no sugar, alcohol, cereals, legumes, soybeans and dairy products. But Whole30 goes a little further to limit sugar.

What kind of sausage is it better?

With this recipe, since it is Whole30, I go with the sugar -free apple sausage. But there are really so many options when it comes to sausage. Many sausages are sugar without sugar by the way, but not everything. So if you need it to stay whole30, then keep it in mind.

To tell the truth, you can use turkey, pork or beef sausages. The thicker and shorter, like the British “banges”, I think they work better. But anyone who finishes in some form of “wurst” is the best. (Yes, it looks a little oxymoron, right?)

A pan. Less dishes.

This is a simple dish, with a pan to roast the sausage and the cabbage. The pumpkin pumpkin puree is a bonus. You could also serve it with traditional crushed potatoes, sweet potatoes, roasted potatoes or even mounted cauliflower if you feel brave.
