The one in this photo came since we were in Selimiye on the Bozburun peninsula.

A mini heat wave had fallen on us. So we noticed a small lokanta with a table outside who was also advertising their homemade lemonade.

The perfect cold drink for two vagabonds that is screwed in the heat.

While the son proudly explained how his mother made her lemonade, the soft drinks were demolished in one. And another promptly ordered!

And we happen to live in an area that has an abundance of groves. Near Köyceğiz has stalls along the road where you can buy citrus fruits from Bagful.

Grating and juice for our Turkish lemonade

In addition to squeezing our lemons, we also use the fine edge of a grater to obtain a little zest of zest and lemon lemon.

This gives us a more spicy and lemon flavor for our Turkish lemonade.

After sinking them, we squeeze them.

We use about a kilo and this gives us about 300 milliliters of lemon juice.

Tip: If you are in Türkiye and buy lemons from local markets (the pazar), look for the stalls that advertise their lemons as “Bol Sulu” – this means that they are very juicy, so giving you more Turkish lemonade for your money!

So we mix about 40 grams of sugar in this and then it is the waiting period …

We like to put this mixture of lemon concentrated in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours – or better yet, until the next day – to let the flavors infuse and give sugar the possibility of dissolving.

It also gives us the opportunity to test if at that point there is enough sugar.

Turkish lemons tend not to be very harsh and we don’t have a weakness for desserts, so we are careful with sugar.

This is our basic lemonade.
