Things were very busy around here. Apparently, building a garden on raw soils requires incredibly time. Who knew it! But I managed to make a moment a moment away from the raised bed building and planting a billion Dahlia to absorb the edible wild flowers that bloom here on the farm in the form of this tasty friendly edible flower. And I also had to use my new favorite pieces from a local ceramist, Ceramic of the notarySo if you are transforming and hit the pieces, here’s where to find them. There are many beautiful varieties of edible flowers, from lavender roses to purple to lilac to maple flowers, is a wonderful series of different flavors and colors. If you are wondering what exactly a cordial is, you are not alone. I always thought it was a kind of old -time British drink that the British had when it was too hot for tea. And I was Type by law. Basically, on the day before refrigeration, the cordials were an adorable way to preserve the flavor of fruit or flowers in liquid form. This is because a simple syrup is created and combine it with an acid like lemon juice, as well as the fruits or flowers. Let it rest everything together for a day or two, then filter it. And then the sugar and acid in the friendly conservation of flavors for several weeks, since sugar is a natural preservative and so it is lemon juice.

Edible wild flowers

You can use any type of edible flower to make this, or even a mix of several like me, but keep in mind how flavors will play together. For example, I used Oregon’s grape flowers, which have an incredibly strong adjacent smell and flavor. I also used bone berry flowers, which have a herbaceous smell and flavor and blind red blur flowers, which have a musk smell similar to black currant berries. The combination of the three created a cordial balanced that was not too “perfume-y” and had a wonderfully complex flavor that in the end established itself very close to mature peaches. It was quite wild! And also compelling.

I hope this inspires you to use the edible flowers of the season enjoy and, as a caution note, do not consume any flowers unless you know for sure They are edible. Also avoid the flowers that may have been sprayed with pesticide/herbicide. And if you are piercing flowers, never strip a plant of all its flowers. The flowers are transformed into berries and fruits on which wildlife depends on food. If you are puncturing, take flowers from several different plants instead of all from a plant and take only what you need 🫶 and if you are looking for another spring favorite, this simple lilac syrup is a real pleasure on top of ice cream or in your morning milk.
