Sometimes you just have to go big or not introduce yourself at all. I’m talking about the times when you need a shot that cannot be committed to the content and napkins are only accumulating on the sidelines. A serious version welcomed by a childhood classic that will leave you to collect overflows from your plate and will do you in a serious personal debate for a few seconds.

This is the type of sandwich you don’t want to order in the evening but keep your sleeve for when it is time to make some calls of serious judgment on that special person. If they are afraid to face the hands of this beast and try to hit it with a knife and a fork, you know it’s time to pack and move on to the next competitor. Or at least that’s how it rolls.

Recipe for Joes Scitti

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat -alt. Add the onions and peppers and brown for 4 minutes or until they are tender. Add the pork and beef. Cook until golden brown. Mix the garlic, the cayenna, the paprika, the cumin, the dry mustard and cool for 1 more minute.

  • Mix the pepper sauce, the brown sugar, the Worcestrshire sauce and the Jalapeneos. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat over low heat and cook for 20 minutes, until the sauce thickened. Season with salt and pepper if necessary.

  • Heat the Canola oil in a large pot with deep sides. Beat the egg and the milk together in a bowl. In a shallow bowl, beat flour, cayenna, paprika and garlic powder together. Sprinkle some salt and pepper in there and beat again. Dip the slices of onion in the egg milk mixture for 10 minutes.

  • Some at a time, drain the mixture of eggs from the onions and throw the flour mixture. Fry, some pieces at a time, until golden brown. Using a heat -proof drop -off spoon, remove and drain them on a paper towel lined plate. Repeat until all slices of onion are fried.
