City on Town Dot the magnificent Amalfi coast from the Sorrento peninsula in Vietri sul Mare. While you can drive and bring buses beyond legendary villas and sumptuous hotels, the road along the coast that connects the villages is narrow and can be rather busy during the high season while everyone stops to admire the view. We advise you to rely from an area and to take ferries to the places you want to visit.

Visit Vietri sul Mare

The beautiful city of Vietri sul Mare still an end of the Amalfi coast. If you are familiar with the beautiful Italian ceramic of the company based in the North Carolina Vietri, this city has been the inspiration and the homonymous for the founder Susan Gravely. Today you will find craftsmen still hand painted at the artistic ceramic Solimene, which is a great place to find a souvenir made locally. Make sure to walk through Vietri sul Mare to admire the surroundings of the doors with bright colors tiles that decorate the shops in the city and stop for lunch and an ice cream.

Stop on a granita stand

While traveling along the coast, you will find several small stands that will welcome passers -by to stop for the view and a refreshing granita based on local fruits. Our favorite was between Vietri sul Mare and Maiori and was absolutely incredible and a highlight of our time in the area.

Staying at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria

For our time on the Amalfi coast, we based on Sorrento and the five -star Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, where we saw incredible sunsets on the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius every evening from the Vittoria terrace. The hotel has just been named number one throughout Italy and it is easy to understand why. The entrance is the welcome of all the welcome while guide through a lush Mediterranean garden and citrus fruits. You could even see the citrus fruits collected for the Marmalade Riserva of the hotel created by the culinary team and made sure that guests can take the house of Excelsior Vittoria. Legend has it that the Roman emperor Augustus had a villa in the same position, but since 1834, the hotel has been owned and managed by the Florentine family. In addition to the precious services and service at the Excelsior Vittoria, Marina Piccola is comfortably above, where the ferries arrive and leave. There is also a private lift for guests who leads directly to and the hotel, making it even easier to explore the ferry area. If you prefer to arrive in style, there is a landing for helicopters and the concierge service can organize a transfer from/from Naples.
