How to prepare this dish

  • In a medium pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onions, salt, sugar and garlic and cook about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Add the rice, mix with a wooden spoon to cover well and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add the broth and bring to a boil, mix and reduce the heat to the low.
  • Cover and cook for about 20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  • Remove from the heat and leave to rest for 5 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 spoons olive oil
  • 1 cup onion thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic slice thinly
  • 2 cups long grain white rice
  • 3 cups chicken broth or vegetables
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • In a medium pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions, salt, sugar and garlic and cook about 5 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

To keep: transfer the rice to an airtight container. Keep it in the refrigerator for a maximum of 4 days and simply heat it in the microwave before serving.
