To start preparing the Mulakushyam recipe – A curry of mixed vegetable lentils, prepare the vegetables first by peeling and cutting them. Wash the Dal and keep aside.
Now we will cook everything a single pot, using a pressure cooker or using a method of the sauce pan. If you use the sauce pan method, follow the same instructions below and cook until the Dal is soft and cooked.
Place the from washing, chopped vegetables, green choppy peppers in the pressure cooker. Add the turmeric, the salt and about 2 cups of water. Place the weight and cook at pressure until you hear two whistles. After 2 whistles, turn the heat down and simmer for a couple of minutes and turn off the heat.
Allow pressure to release in a natural way. Once the pressure is released, add the curry leaves, coconut oil, salt and pepper to taste. Mix and give the muulakushyama that boils. Turn off the heat and transfer to a serving bowl.
