Hello from my house,
Normally I write under the name Pomario, today as Children’s and Mother’s Day is approaching I write as Mariana. I am the eldest of the founding brothers of Pomario, the creator of our social networks, of the articles on this blog and now also Chameleon.
Last year I wrote about my experience feeding my son. If you want to read it, I’ll leave it here, because I left my heart in this article and it was an important moment of reflection for me.
Pascual was born on Chef’s Day (Cook’s Day, as I like to say) and has honored that day ever since he tried the food. So this is a small account of my story of these years of education and nutrition, because something precious will surely come out of here for you: dads, uncles, grandparents, nannies or guardians of children from wherever you are reading me.
This year I want to tell you what happened and how everything that we as a family decided to do to ensure healthy eating and a simpler country life worked.
Pascual is now 6 and a half years old. I feel happy to say that he is a child who eats everything, who comes to any house and “eats what is there”; who is aware of what is good for their health and what we try to avoid because it is not as good for us. We do not demonize foods, nor do we have extreme bans, and lies are not valid. We succeeded with true stories about food and its origins, supported by cuisine and everything we can experience in it.
I had to recount these years to remember. I also sat down to look back on our days to understand how all of this was possible. Here I leave you my reflection!
We live in the countryside, he is a happy mountaineer and connected to nature; grew up with dogs, around chickens; with the cows and horses of Titi, Totò and his uncles. He is also a chef who loves to invent, go to the garden, smell, ask, sow and harvest.
He too saw me love Pomario, he accompanied us, he saw us create, participate in visits to the crops and plants and have office days. But above all, connect with the origin of all your food: like a well-tended seed in nourished soil, it generates a sprout or a leaf; how milk is milked from cows; how and when chickens lay eggs; understand that a tomato is in the air and a carrot is under the ground. And I can assure you that this has made a difference.
Your tastes and personality also played an important role. Since complementary feeding began, we decided that we would do it calmly, trusting in BLW (baby led weaning), in what showed us and showed him the gigantic world that is food, especially vegetables, once and for all. for everyone until he tried them… and this almost always happened from the first time he put them on his plate.
Today Pascual confidently says, “I like almost everything except hummus and mushrooms.” So to you: mom, dad, grandparent, uncle or person who has a child nearby, I say: yes, you can.
I send you a hug from this mountain
