The month of April ends and start from the month of May – in a very wet Fethiye. Let’s take a look at some April news from life to Fethiye.


The local climate could be gray and humid at the moment, but April has given us delicious, warm and sunny days and a lot of beautiful flowers.
It was also a month full of local events, national and spring festivals and the gradual opening of the 2025 summer season.
A busy calendar
On April 23 in Turkey is the National Sovereriaty & Children’s Day and Fethiye, children from different countries around the world made a parade along the Kordon and performed traditional dances both to Fethi Bey Park and in Beşkaza Meydanı (The Town Square).
For two weekends in a row, it was the moment of the Festival for the Fethiye area.
Green Luzugöbeği and Dastar Festival
11-13 April was the Yeşilüzümlü dastar festival and mushrooms-a celebration of mushroom Morel and the local plot, Dastar.
Festivals like this are always frequented by people in their traditional Yörük clothing and this type in the photo was so proud of his.
We were with friends and insisted on the fact that we took his photo – and then he insisted on the fact that even our photos took with him.
The mushroom festival grows in popularity every year, therefore, this year, we went to üzümlü on Saturday instead of the most crowded Sunday.
Beediye organized a free bus service and on Saturday we were the proverbial sardines in the box during the bus trip.
Always a beautiful day, though!
Göcek Herb Festival
The following weekend was the Posticated Göcek OT Festivals (Herb Festival).
This is a new festival compared to the mushroom festival – we think this year was the third year – so the crowds are not so big at the moment and it is easy to get a Dolmuş.



Not that we need an excuse to enjoy some time in Göcek, but the Herb Festival is the perfect reason to make the effort to go there for the day.
And the postponement due to bad weather at the beginning of the month means that we didn’t have to lose this year’s offer.
The 20th Runtalya



We were in Antalya on the first weekend of April for the annual marathon of Runtalya, when the festival was originally taking place.
We said it was a demanding month!
Elsewhere on the sports calendar, the Fethiye Tuesday market last week became the Monday market for a day due to the Turkey’s presidential bicycle tour that left the Fethiye Center for Fethiye’s leg in Marmaris.
And we had another of the country’s running events.
The Ultra of Babadağ took place with the runners who launched on their various routes from Ölüdeniz.
Fethiye Summer Season 2025 – The Beginnings
Between the frequency of the festival and the race along the streets of Antalya, Fethiye’s summer season was also slowly started.



Of course, we spent the Easter holidays and during those two weeks there were several vacationers around.
It was nice to see the water taxi çalış active and functioning – and see it thus engaged on the day of the market that left the pier at çalış.
Also in çalış, many bars and restaurants that close for the winter months have reopened their doors.



A special mention for the Oben restaurant at the end of the main promenade that opened their doors for their 40th season this year.
Congratulations to them!
Towards the end of the month, the stakes were hammered in the sand and the gravel – and the colorful parasols of the beach of çalış were once again implemented.
It hasn’t been time for the beds yet …



The boats have returned to the water both in Fethiye and in çalış and, for many, the daily trips of the Fethiye boat began!
Everything wherever wakes up!
Out & All
The Antalya and weekend festivals kept us busy this month, especially to eat outside.
The Turkish street food was truly extraordinary, really, for April.
Suck Ekmek at the Mushroom Festival while we wandered through the stalls.



And then a recent trip to the Tuesday market gave us the excuse to visit Fethiye’s food trucks.
This time, we opted for the Balık Ekmek truck (Sandwich fish) where Uskumru (Mackerel) and Sardalya (Sardine) are on offer.



A huge half bread with your choice of fish and salad, together with a small side of chips, all at an excellent price!
This truck has become our Balık Ekmek Go-to since the cooperative of fish products along the çalış channel was demolished in April.
In the kitchen
Spring obviously means a perfect opportunity for seasonal food.
At the moment we are spoiled for choice on local markets.



Swiss chard It is piled up, so our Pazı Kavurma Turco was in the menu more than once. So adorable!
Fresh green peas I’m also in the season. We use them to prepare this green pea salad and feta.
And we have not yet bought wide beans, but they are fantastic in this Turkish salad of wide beans and barley.



Oh, we celebrated International Carrot Day of April 4th With a little calibers Havuç – carrot and garlic yogurt paint – and Barry stood out this time with his best Köfte with grid!
It’s meat!
So there are no new additions to our collection of Turkish recipes for this month, but this month it was more on exploration rather than on the preparation and kitchen of food.

Explore Antalya
Our annual trip to Antalya on the bus means that we can regularly update our Analya content.
As usual, we went to Kaleiçi and we went to see the developments in the Hıdır wty tower where the excavations took place.



So, a couple of updates to our article by Kaleiçi (The Old Town) because the famous Clock Torre Antalya is now also in full show after being restored.
In this visit, we also explored more than the beautiful beach of Konyaltı and surroundings and this is now an article on the blog.



Explore Göcek
Some visits to Göcek in recent times, so we thought the time had come to update our article on the beautiful city since it was one of the oldest articles on the blog.
So now we have our guide to Göcek – the westernmost point of the Fethiye environments.
For further explorations around the province of Muğla (the entire stretch of coast between Fethiye and Bodrum) we brought our article on the use of Dolmuş at the top.
And, given that the üzümlü festival of mushrooms concerns the celebration of the Morel, we have refreshed our recipe for Morel mushrooms – if I had to be lucky enough to get our hands on any Morel.

Commemorations of Anzac Day
April 25 is, of course, Anzac Day and this year marked the 110th anniversary of the Gallipoli countryside.
The commemorations of this year They were attended by Princess Anne.
Patara Lighthouse
And great news from the world of archeology.
It is time to revisit the ruins of Patara now that a team of archaeologists has completed the meticulous reconstruction of the lighthouse of the Roman era by a team led by Professor Iskan işık.
The lighthouse was built by Emperor Nero in 64 AD and was destroyed by a tsunami in 1485.



The stones placed buried under sand dunes and archaeologists found them and used them to reconstruct the lighthouse – an apparent World Archaeological First!
Only 8% of the lighthouse structure includes new stones. 18% in the upper area where a new crown was added.
