What tools do I need to make a marinade?

Before starting, let’s talk about tools. The good news? You don’t need much. A Galloni size zip-top bag Or a superficial dish works perfectly to marinate. If your marinade has large ingredients (such as fresh herbs or garlic), a blender or kitchen robot It helps you create a regular consistency. Apart from that, everything you need is your refrigerator and a little patience.

The best chicken to be marked

The chicken is super versatile and the marinade works for any cut. Here is a rapid distribution of how the different cuts benefit from the marriage:

  • Boned and leather without leather: These can dry quickly, so a marinated helps to add humidity and flavor.
  • Thighs (boned or bone): Of course juicy and tasty, but a good marinated grilled chicken thighs on the next level.
  • Drumsticks & Wings: Perfect for absorbing bold flavors and staying humid on the grill.
  • Whole chicken: SpatchCocking (removal of the backbone) helps it uniformly absorbing the marinade and cooking more quickly.

How to make a marinade

A large marinade concerns balance. Here are the five key elements that each marinade should have:

  • Fat: It helps the marinade to stick to the chicken and brings flavors. The options include olive oil, avocado oil or melted butter.
  • Acid: He slightly kidnapped the protein, making the chicken more tender. Try vinegar, citrus juice (lemon, lime or orange) or even yogurt.
  • Salt: Essential for the seasoning and design of the flavors in the meat. Use the Kosher salt, soy sauce or even the Worcestrshire sauce.
  • Aromatic: Here is where you are creative! Fresh or dry herbs, garlic, onions, mustard or even spicy elements such as pepper flakes or jalapeños.
  • Sweetener: It helps with caramelization and balance the acidity. Honey, maple syrup or brown sugar work great.

Once these elements are understood, you can mix and combine the ingredients to create a marinade that adapts to taste preferences and cooking style.

How long to marinate the chicken

Timing matters! Marinate too little and you will not have much flavor. Too long and the acid can begin to break down the meat too much. Here is a quick guide:

  • Less than 4 hours: If you are in a hurry or you need a quick flavor for thinner cuts, you can shed light on the time of the marinade.
  • 4-8 hours: This window works ideally for boned breasts and smaller cuts, adding deeper flavor without marinating too much.
  • During the night: When you got bones cuts like thighs, chopsticks and wings that need time to allow the development of flavors, I recommend you go up to 24 hours.
  • Over 24 hours: You want to avoid going more than 24 hours or you can finish with soft chicken.

Finding your favorite marinade time is as important as the ingredients you use. Don’t be afraid to experience so you can find what works best for you.
