Bananos Calados is a quick and easy dessert to make. It does not require many ingredients and is delicious served with whipped cream or ice cream at the top.

What bananas Arean Areanos?

They are also known as Bananos Fritos (fried bananas) in Colombia. It is a simple and delicious dish that can be served as a dessert, snacks or appetizer. It is made with bananas, butter, brown sugar and spices. Some people like to add rum to the sauce, I have not added it to this recipe, but I don’t feel free to add it if you like the flavor of rum.

This dish takes only 20 minutes to do and it is easy to climb for a large crowd or down only for one or two portions and customize with your favorite condiments. It is a wonderful and simple recipe.

Bananas: In Colombia we use small bananas (Murrapos), because they have more flavor than large bananas, but I don’t find them easy here in the united thirst. I recommend using regular bananas for this recipe. Very mature bananas will be very soft to cook with the syrup.

Butter: I recommend using a good quality non -salted butter.

Brown sugar: I prefer to use dark cane sugar for this recipe, but light cane sugar will also work.

Orange: Fresh orange zest and orange juice.

Cinnamon: I prefer to use cinnamon sticks, but you can use cinnamon on the ground.

How to make Openwork bananas

  • Cut the bananas halfway through.
  • In a non -stick pan over medium heat. Add the butter and cook for 1 minute. Add the bananas, brown sugar, water and cinnamon stick. Cook the bananas, turning constantly for 5 minutes.
  • Reduce the heat to the medium low. Add the orange juice and orange peel and cook another 5 minutes, discard the cinnamon stick and serve with vanilla ice cream
