This Air Fryer Salmon Recipe with Maple Soy Glaze is one of my favorite salmon recipes! Quick and easy with just five ingredients!

Salmon in the air fryer

Salmon in the air fryer

I’m obsessed with this air fryer salmon recipe because it’s so quick and delicious! Cooking salmon in an air fryer makes the fish more tender and juicy and it’s so quick and easy too! The Maple Soy Frosting is delicious, made with just 4 ingredients; pure maple syrup, sriracha, soy sauce and garlic. The best part, it couldn’t be simpler, let the fish marinate for 10-15 minutes if you have time, then air fry it for 6-8 minutes. This is my favorite recipe for Air Fryer Salmon, but when I want something with a different flavor profile, I also love this Air Fryer Salmon with Chili, Air Fryer Salmon Bites, and this Parmesan Salmon. And if salmon isn’t your thing, check out all my other air fryer recipes.

Variations:

I never order salmon at a restaurant because I know it comes out much better when I prepare it myself, especially if I make it in the air fryer. This air fryer salmon is marinated with Asian flavors, but you can keep it simple! Attempt:

  • Salmon seasoned with salt and black pepper and finished with fresh lemon squeezed on top to keep it simple.
  • Play with different spices on your salmon like Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, etc.
  • Try honey instead of maple syrup in this recipe.

How to Cook Salmon in the Air Fryer

Here are the step-by-step instructions for making this simple air fryer salmon recipe. See the recipe card below for printable directions.

  1. If the salmon is frozen, thaw overnight in the refrigerator, or place the sealed fish in a large bowl of cold water, until the fish thaws, about 15 minutes.
  2. Cut the salmon fillet into four even pieces or buy pre-cut fillets and marinate them in maple syrup, sriracha, garlic and soy sauce for 15 to 20 minutes. If you don’t have time to marinate it, don’t worry, 5 minutes will still be delicious! You can keep the skin or remove it if you wish.
  3. Then spray the fryer basket with olive oil spray or use air fryer parchment paper (with holes) to prevent it from sticking and place it in the fryer.
  4. Remove the fish from the marinade and set aside.
  5. There is no need to preheat the air fryer. Air fry the salmon at 400F for about 6-8 minutes, depending on thickness, or 2 minutes longer if you prefer it well done.
  6. While it’s in the fryer, take the marinate and reduce it into a glaze in a pan over medium-low heat for 1 or 2 minutes which will eventually be poured over the salmon. Top it with scallions or sesame seeds, if desired – it’s delicious!

What to serve with air fried salmon

I like to serve the salmon with brown rice and a salad or vegetables like roasted asparagus, broccoli, bok choy, or Brussels sprouts.

Useful tips for frying salmon in the open air

  • Spray the basket with a propellant-free oil or use air fryer parchment to prevent the skin from sticking to the basket.
  • There is no need to preheat the air fryer.
  • Don’t overcrowd the bin so you get decent airflow.
  • There is no need to turn the salmon, it will cook well on both sides.
  • To find out if the salmon is readyduring cooking the fish will go from translucent (red or raw) to opaque (pink). Check for doneness after 6-8 minutes of cooking by peeking into the thickest part with a sharp knife or fork. It should fall apart, but will still have some translucency in the center when done.

How to store

Store leftover salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
