Ingredients for Dortios casserole
- Doritos: There are many flavors of Doritos, use your favorite (I use nacho cheese). Try Siracha, Cool Ranch or Spicy-Sweet Chili.
- Meat: This recipe uses lean ground beef seasoned with taco seasoning.
- Sauce: Creamy sauce combines condensed soup, sour cream, and salsa (mild or hot). It’s easy and delicious.
- Cheese: Cheddar or a Mexican cheese blend works well here.
Variations
- Filling: Stir kidney beans or black beans into the meat mixture, add extra vegetables, such as corn or green chiles, or lengthen the casserole by adding rice.
- Seasonings: Top with your favorite greens like shredded lettuce or fresh tomatoes or add a dollop of sour cream or guacamole on top of each serving.

Holly’s Casserole Tips
- To crush Doritos, place them in a bag and crush them by hand, but not too small.
- Drain the fat from the ground meat so that the casserole is not overcooked.
- Purchase pre-shoned cheese to make assembly easier.
- Spray the tin foil with cooking oil so it doesn’t stick to the top layer of cheese.
- Remember to remove the sheet for the last 20 minutes. This will help the top layer of the casserole brown and bubbly.
