What is Cornstarch?

It is a popular dish made with milk, cornstarch (corn starch), vanilla, sugar and cinnamon. It is almost like an eggless vanilla pudding.

I sent an e-mail to all my cousins in Colombia trying to find this recipe. My grandmother made this pudding often when I grew up like an afternoon snack and a long time passed since I had it. I don’t know if it was time, but I want to Colander For a while. I did it last week and it was as comforting and tasted just like Mamita’s!

Tips to create this recipe

I like to use an entire vanilla bean to create this recipe, but you can use vanilla extract if you prefer.

I recommend using whole milk when preparing Colada de Mazena, because I find that the consistency is more creamy with whole milk.

You can serve the hot colada or let it cool before serving it. If they refrigerate it, be sure to place a plastic casing on it.
